Hello Junior Families,
It’s that time of year again, the Milford Youth Lacrosse (MYL) season is right around the corner, in fact our first practice is Tuesday (3/23) 5:30pm on the back turf field (#2) at Orange Ave (Next to the YMCA) and again on Thursday (3/25) on the grass behind Christ the Redeemer church.
Once we get started, I will send out an email to ALL Junior parents every week, outlining the schedule for the upcoming week. Please read through the information below and contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
Junior (5th and 6th graders) – Rob Warakomski and Michael Scanlon.
Note: Due to the number of girls registered we will have one Junior team this year which works out well because we are moving to a full-length field, eleven players and a goalie.
When using the MYL website refer to the Junior Girls 5/6 Orange team.
Bring the following completed forms to our first practice:
- Parent Consent/Medical Release form
- Code of Conduct form
- MYL COVID Return to Play/COVID Release form
These forms are mandatory and must be completely filled out or your child will not be allowed to participate in practice. All forms can be found on our MYL website (documents section). http://milfordyouthlacrosse.org/
I cannot stress enough the importance of adhering to the rules as defined by the Department of Public Health and the Parks and Recreation Department. We have been told by the city of Milford that our permits can/will be revoked if we are found to be in violation of any of the protocols that have been agreed upon.
Again, please read through the entire document, but these are the biggest changes:
- Face covering that covers the nose, mouth, and chin for everybody, at all times - players, coaches, guardians, and spectators.
- Maintain social distancing, 6 feet minimum, from other coaches, players, guardians, and spectators.
- Guardians MUST “check in” their player (child, or children they may be carpooling) with the proper coach at every practice and game. The coach will ask COVID-related questions to verify that the player is able to participate. Yes, this will be an inconvenience and time-consuming for all involved, but it is what was agreed upon with the city of Milford.
DO NOT DROP OFF ANY CHILDREN WITHOUT COMPLETING THE COVID QUESTIONS WITH ME OR MIKE. This will be a violation with our agreement with the city and can forfeit the rest of our season.
If a coach or player tests positive for COVID-19 at any time after the season has begun, all participants and regulatory agencies with the city of Milford will be notified, and all activities will be suspended, per the guidance of those agencies. This also applies to positive tests for players on visiting teams. If games need to be cancelled because of quarantines, we will do our best to reschedule them.
In addition to having a stick, all players are required to wear goggles and a mouthguard (mouthguard cannot be clear, white or depict graphics of white teeth). Detailed information is Here. Girls have the option to wear a helmet (it is not mandatory). There are only two approved models, and more information about helmets can be found Here, with diagrams Here, and a video Here.
Orange Avenue Turf Field #2 (back field) – 577 Orange Avenue – Tuesdays
Christ The Redeemer Church (grass field) – 325 Oronoque Road – Thursdays
NO DOGS are allowed at either field/complex. Christ the Redeemer Church also requests that no children climb the trees on the property.
The Junior team will be practicing on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 5:30 – 7:00. The first few weeks we will run out of daylight so expect practices to end by 6:30. If there are no games scheduled for the turf, we will be practicing there on Tuesdays. Thursday practices will always be at Christ The Redeemer. Please arrive a few minutes early so at 5:30 the girls can hit the ground running. Practices will not be loaded into the MYL website schedule, only games.
Our first game has not been published yet. Bear with us, Games are reflected on the website yet as we are still in the process of uploading games. http://milfordyouthlacrosse.org/Schedule.asp?org=MILFORDYOUTHLACROSSE.ORG. All players should arrive early enough, so that they are ready to start warming up 30 minutes before the starting time.
